Excursions

Make the most of your stay to discover Paris.

Where to EAT in Paris during your stay!!!

Where to sit?

Even in very busy establishments, Parisians always do their best to get a quiet table. And at the slightest ray of sunshine, the rule is to rush to the terrace, even if it’s only 13 degrees outside. It’s up to you!
Note that the restaurant dining rooms are non-smoking areas, but the terraces are often invaded by smokers. Avoid them if you’re allergic to cigarettes!

What to wear

It’s true that you don’t dress the same to eat in a bistro as you would in a Michelin-starred restaurant. But either way, keep it simple. Parisian chic combines elegance, comfort and discretion.

How do you choose your wine?

In Paris, people like to show off their wine knowledge! Make sure you use the right vocabulary when talking to the sommelier: a white that’s “lively and dry” or “fruity and mellow”, a red that’s “powerful and sunny” or “light and sweet”… Don’t worry, if you don’t know much about wine, you can always ask for advice.

At what time of day?

In Paris, you can eat at any time… but not everywhere. Each restaurant has its own habits and opening hours. It’s best to make a reservation and/or go to a popular restaurant before 8pm if you hope to find a seat. Beware: after 10.30pm, many restaurants close their kitchens! You will always find a restaurant open in the middle of the night, but the choice will be more limited. If you prefer to dine early, some restaurants offer continuous service, so they are open before 7pm.

Are any services free?

You can ask for a jar of water in the restaurant, although the waiter will first offer you mineral, still or sparkling water. The jar of tap water is of course free, and once it’s empty you can even ask for another! In France, cutlery and bread are also served free of charge. The same applies to the amuse-bouches offered at the start of the meal by some restaurants.

THE CITY OF LIGHT

Weather and climate in Paris

Spring is the season when Paris seems reborn, with its avenues hemmed in soft green and its trees in bloom. The days grow longer, as do museum opening hours, and the high season is already underway. There’s an air of holiday in the air and the scent of candyfloss fills the aisles of the Foire du Trône. The gardens and banks of the Seine are being rediscovered by walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers.
